About the event
The theme for this FAMILY FOCUSED celebration is Intergenerational Unity.
Those attending will learn more about KWANZAA, receive wisdom from the elders, enjoy entertainment, create a Kwanzaa craft, and break bread together!
Kwanzaa is a non-religious, Pan-African holiday that was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga to celebrate family, community, and culture. Its purpose is to help African Americans, and those wishing to celebrate with them, have a connection to their African roots and heritage.
Kwanzaa is a seven-day celebration modeled after the traditional African first harvest celebrations.
It is celebrated from December 26 through January 1.
Each day's celebration is based on one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa know as Nguzo Saba.
